May 2010
May brought gardening at home and school, end of school year field trips, the end of kindergarten for Isaac and preschool for Eric and lots of other fun activities. Here are just a few of them:
Isaac participated in the Reader's Cafe at school. Basically what the students do is invite the community to the school for an afternoon of drinks, goodies and reading. When "customer's show up to the cafe they are given some fake money so they can purchase an item off of the students menu of reading selections. The community showed up and the students read to them. It was a great way to promote literacy.
My Grandfather (4th from left) came for a visit from Klamath Falls, OR. This was the first time in many years he has been with his brothers and sisters. Vicky (3rd from left) wasn't told my Grandpa would be here. She was coming from Virginia and she was totally surprised.
This year we decided to replace the dirt in our raised garden beds. The last dirt we used was full of rocks and didn't hold the moisture very well. The new dirt is all organic and every gardener I have talked to say it is the best. I guess only time will tell.
Eric was so proud to receive his graduation certificate. The little program he was in was so cute! The students were all up on stage singing and performing and smiling from ear to ear! He had a great time in preschool and is looking forward to pre-K in the fall.
Isaac made it through kindergarten and is ready for 1st grade. A really cute graduation ceremony was put on by the students. They sang songs and recited a poem and we all enjoyed a pot luck lunch. After all the good-byes we were out for the summer!
