Cowboy Birthday Party!

On Saturday, June 30 at 11:00am we had a Cowboy birthday party for Eric's first birthday. It was so much fun! I started out by making invitations that looked like wanted signs and burning the edges to give them a more aged look. I also individualized each card by putting the recipient's name on it. They came out very cute. The day before the party and the day of the party I had lots of help to create a western feel to our back porch. We had checked table cloths, peanuts in metal buckets, yellow and white flowers in mason jars, and cowboy stuff scattered about. We also had lots of blue, gold, and red balloon and streamers. For the cake, my computer savvy sister made a wanted sign with Eric on it and then we had it printed on a cake. So cute! The party favors came in a brown paper bag which included handcuffs, stickers, water gun, bandana, cowboy hat and sheriffs badge. For the games we had a metal bucket full of sand and in it we had gold nuggets, (rocks my sister painted gold) pennies and nickels. The little kids really liked looking for gold. We also had a saddle set up on a wooden saw horse so the kids could sit on it and have a picture taken. We were going to have them lasso a post but never got around to it. I had other games planed but there is never enough time to do it all. The older kids actually had more fun getting soaking wet with the water guns and garden hose! They had lots of fun! Lots of mud, but lots of fun. The littler kids had fun playing on the play ground set and inside in the toy room. For the food we had corn bread that I made, chile that could be used to make a chile dog or Frito pie, water melon and chips. We washed it all down with raspberry lemonade. Eric then opened all his gifts and of course he was more interested in the boxes and gift wrap than the actual gifts. Mike and I were very appreciative of all the gifts and help we had to give Eric a great first birthday party.

I see you got the picture posting thing entirely figured out. The party turned out great and we had a ton of fun.
